March 5 -  Meeting of Middleburg Museum  Thursday, 6:30 PM  Middleburg Museum     3916 Section Street, Middleburg, Florida 32068 Maureen Jung will present-   “Save Our Stories--Clay”.  With all the changes ahead for Clay (thousands of new houses; freeway cutting the county in half), there’s a wake up call to save our history while we still can. Maureen will touch on the state of Clay’s history, what’s missing, how to document, preserve, and share missing pieces.

March 13 - Please join us for our 3rd Annual Golf Tournament located at Magnolia Point Golf Club on March, Friday the 13th, 2020. This event benefits our 7th Annual Trunk or Treat event sponsored by the Green Cove Springs Police Department. All proceeds of this event will go to cover the games, contests, and all that goes into our extensive scare tent. Registration is $70 per individual or $260 for a group of four. Registration form and payment must be turned into Green Cove Springs Police Department by March 9 to compete. Registration forms can be found at www.greencovesprings.com.  We hope to see you and “TEE” off together!

Saturday, at 11 am – 4 pm    Clarke House Park    1039 Kingsley Ave, Orange Park.  A Celebration of History in Orange Park. The event will take place at the beautiful Clarke House Park on Kingsley Ave. You will enjoy historic demonstrations, tours, live music, and more!
March 14 - The Great Gold Head Expedition by Friends of Gold Head State Park and Palatka to Lake Butler State Trail SAT, 2:30 PM  $15 cash per hiker for a donation to our CSO. Please call to register at the ranger station 352-473-4701.  Discover Gold Head State Park in a brand new light in which its never been seen. Join a ranger led hike through 4 different ecosystems, learning more about how all of these natural processes come into play. This hike will put minimal backpackers to the test whether they are just getting started and squaring away their gear, or they are experts just looking for a new trail. Hikers will travel along the Florida Trail around the park stumbling upon sinkhole lakes, flora and fauna along the way. Camp out under the stars, and weather permitting learn about a few of the celestial bodies in the night sky. Then set out on a morning hike off trail with a ranger.

March 22 - 1st Annual MSGT Hayes Memorial Birthday Race Sunday, 7 am  MSGT. John E. Hayes Memorial Park     Middleburg Operation Barnabas will be sponsoring the 1st Annual MSgt Hayes Memorial Birthday Race on behalf of the late MSgt John Hayes and his wife, Shannon. Shannon and John share the same birthday, March 22. MSgt Hayes sacrificed his life on July 08, 2009 in Afghanistan. His wife has continued to grow his giant legacy in their three beautiful children, Catherine, Jacob, and Emilie. he race begins at approximately 0800 with the 1 mile fun run just after. Medals and T-shirt’s will be given with each PAID registration. Prizes for top times will be given for the top three in each division. The divisions are separated into 5K and 10K slots. Rucking is also an option, a patch will be given in addition to the regular finisher awards. Following the race, there will be food trucks, live music, fellowship, and of course...cake!

March 28 - 2nd Annual Girl Scout Homecoming Day-  Saturday, March 28, 2020 at 12 pm – 9:30 pm Camp Chowenwaw Park    1517 Ball Rd, Green Cove Springs

March 28 - STEP BACK IN TIME! The Girl Scouts of Gateway Council’s annual San Agustin event will be held Saturday, 28 March, from 9 am to 4 pm, at Heritage Park Village, 102 South Lowder Street, Macclenny, FL,32063.  San Agustin is a girl led reenactment of what a girl’s life was like in NE Florida in the 1740s. Girl Scouts in period clothing will demonstrate many activities such as basketry, candle making, open hearth cooking and pottery making. Several stations such as games and finger weaving encourage visitor participation. Guests are welcome to bring a picnic lunch and to spend the entire day with the girls. Advance tickets can be purchased on the council web site: www.girlscouts-gateway.org ($6 and children under 4 free), tickets at the gate will cost $8 (children under 4 still free.)
